Hello,

We had a good week of visiting last week and have several prospects for visitors.  We didn't see many of them out yesterday, but will try to follow up this week and keep knocking on doors and trying to get out previous contacts.

One blessing yesterday was that the wife of one of our  members came with her sister.  I met with her sister and mother last April and witnessed Christ to them.  Both of these ladies have small children, and the wife of our member knows that we have small children in the nursery, but had said previously that she wouldn't put her son in the nursery. (she struggles with many things)  Mongolians usually can't stand to hear their small children cry, but both of them put their kids in the nursery and were able to stay in the service even though there were times when some crying could be heard!  The sister seemed open.

We have some follow-up to do this week, and hopefully will be able to meet with some people to explain salvation to them.

This summer's building projects included the addition of a pergola over the outdoor seating area of the snack shop, the remodel of the college hallway entrance (including a history of the college display), the installation of a children's mural in the Sunday School wing, and the floor-to-ceiling remodel of our home ec. room.

45th Anniversary – Old-Fashioned Sunday

After hundreds of hours of visitation, prayer, and preparation by our members, the Lord blessed with a tremendous Anniversary Sunday.   What a joy to see visitors filling the auditorium.  The day centered on a clear salvation message brought by Pastor Damron.  We praise the Lord for continued responsiveness to the preaching of the gospel.

The afternoon included many activities for adults and children.  The hot air balloon and camel rides were special highlights!  To finish off the "old-fashioned" day and our 45th anniversary celebration, our evening service was held in a tent, complete with saw-dust in the aisles, male quartet specials, soul-stirring congregational hymns, and powerful preaching.

We know it is our responsibility to spread the gospel far and wide throughout our region.  One way this is done is through our annual fall campaign.  We are knocking on doors, witnessing, and discipling every week of the year, but each fall we increase our time both on the streets and in prayer.  Our goal is to both witness to and gather as many souls as possible to hear gospel messages on repentance and faith.  After each morning service, there are enjoyable activities for families to participate in as well.  We want to praise the Lord for answered prayer and for the souls that were saved.

It was a blessing to have Evangelist Randy Starr here to preach in church. Along with numerous others across the country, we have been praying for Brother Starr's battle with cancer. What a joy it was to hear him preach of God's working in his life and to see God using them on the road once again.

Hundreds of teens were challenged last week at the Empowered Youth conference.  Pastor Mark Wagner preached several pointed messages that the Lord used to change hearts.  He pastors Hannahstown Road Baptist Church in Cabot, Pennsylvania.  Other guest speakers included Pastor Allen Golden (Jefferson City, Missouri) and Pastor Jeff Ferguson (Des Moines, Iowa).  Pastor Parrish, Pastor Damron, and Eric Ramos also preached.

Visiting teens filled the ladies' dorm and overflowed the men's dorm!  Groups came from Cambodia, Korea, Mexico, Quebec, Ontario, Alaska, California, Texas, Wyoming, Alabama, etc., etc.

These teens are all children of our alumni. How exciting to have so many here for the week.

Hello,

We are getting settled into our new rental building, and are just about done getting it set up to meet our needs.  To be honest with you however, I hope we will not be in this building long.  The location is excellent, and it is nice and warm though the weather is getting cold out (about -5 F last night), but though is has a larger square footage than our old building, the layout is different to that our kids' room and auditorium are actually smaller than what they used to be.

Last Sunday this started to become a problem, as we had 38 seven to ten year olds, 10 three to six year olds, and 24 four adults and teens, for a total of 72 people in church!  This is a blessing to have that many, and we are thankful, but it makes me pray all the harder for our own land.

We have three teen boys whom we plan to baptize next Sunday.  This is a blessing also, as we have been praying for boys lately.

A praise: We thought Maggie might have to get her own visa after March 7th, when she turns 16, but they just renewed her residency permission with the rest of ours for a whole year!  Thank you for praying with us.

A long-standing Thanksgiving tradition at Fairhaven Baptist Church involves our teens collecting food for those in need both in our church and in the area. Our youth group gathered over 20,000 pounds of food this year! "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith"  (Galatians 6:10).

We enjoyed another wonderful Thanksgiving morning at Fairhaven with a special breakfast and testimony service. What a joy to come together to praise the Lord and thank Him for His goodness in our lives.  "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name" (Psalm 100:4).

Last week the Fairhaven Baptist Academy senior band played Christmas arrangements for the people in Addison Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center in Chesterton.  Last night, the church orchestra held a special Christmas concert for the members and guests of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Chicago.

Please join us in our auditorium for The Glory of Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 15th at 7 p.m.

Hello,

God has been giving us good attendance the past few Sundays, despite the cold weather.  We have been thankful for good attendance in children's church, both among the older kids and the younger ones also.  They are preparing their Christmas program now.  That is always a fun time for the kids.  This year we are including some of the teens in the children's plays.

Teen church has seen regular attendance this fall.  We have some new boys that have been very faithful lately.  They are a blessing.  Three of them will be baptized this coming Sunday.  The teens sang their first song in regular church as a special this Sunday.  They have sung for the Christmas service before, but never as a special in church before.  It was a little rough, but it was a step.

We have a few unsaved people to preach the Gospel to Sunday.  One middle-aged man is supposed to get together with me this week to hear more about the Gospel.  We thank God for every person He brings to us.

We are working of purchasing a new van this week.  I have had quite a time with vehicles since we have been back.  I will be glad when we get a new van and get our problems ironed out.  Thank you for your prayers with us on all the aspects of our ministry here!

Hello,

We are gearing up for our Christmas program next Sunday.  We will have the children do a play Sunday morning, when we invite the parents of the kids.  Last year over 10 parents came, which is more than ever before.  We hope and pray for a good turn-out this year also.  In the evening we will have several special songs, vocal and instrumental.  We pray for many of our friends and relatives to come out.

We have been averaging a total attendance of 50 on Sundays, which is an increase from the past.  I am especially happy with the teens lately.  We have been giving them opportunity to give testimonies on Sundays, and it has been a blessing to hear what God is doing in their lives.  We baptized three teen boys last Sunday.

God blessed us with a good van a couple of weeks ago.  The majority of the vehicles for sale here are at least 10 years old, so a vehicle with low miles is rare.  But the van we got has very low miles and is in great shape.  What a blessing after putting up with wore-out vehicles for the past several years.

Thank you for your prayers.  I will be sure to let you know how the Christmas service goes.

The Glory of Christmas concert was held on Tuesday night, December 15th. Our church musicians and vocalists performed traditional Christmas selections.  We were honored to have many guests join us as we sought to praise and honor the true gift of Christmas, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our annual Christmas banquet.  The food and fellowship was wonderful.  Following the delicious meal, Pastor Melito Barrera, from Berean Bible Baptist Church in Chula Vista, California, brought a challenging message to not be an ankle deep Christian.  You can watch the message here.

Pat Reamer Update

On our anniversary Sunday in September, Pat Reamer was walking to the evening service when he suffered a massive heart attack.  His heart stopped, and he was not breathing.  A lady in our church who is a nurse performed CPR until paramedics arrived.  They started his heart again after multiple shocks with an AED machine.  Most doctors felt his situation was beyond help and were recommending that the family prepare to let him go.  Thirteen weeks later, Pat is not only out of the hospital but home from rehab.  He is regaining his motor skills steadily.

Pat has served on the LaPorte bus route since 1979 and was thrilled his first weekend out of rehab to both visit the kids on Saturday and ride the bus on Sunday.  We praise the Lord for this miracle in our midst!
